TACOMA 5/9/2025 – Friends, colleagues and the community gathered May 9 at the Tacoma Processing and Distribution Center to witness Damon Coquillette officially named as the new Tacoma Postmaster.
Washington District Manager Trent McNeal administered the oath of office on the day as Executive Assistant Idanya Luna held the bible. Customer Services Manager Rodney King served as emcee for the event.
"I want to thank Damon for his leadership and all of those in the room that have an impact on performance in Tacoma,” said McNeal just before administering the oath of office.
As Tacoma Postmaster, Coquillette oversees more than 500 employees, 199,000 delivery points, 15 retail units and 6,000 PO Boxes.
"I want to thank Trent for selecting me for the position and trusting me with the employees with the Postal Service. I am glad to be here and provide excellent customer service in the city of Tacoma,” Coquillette said.
Coquillette began his career in the Postal Service in 1999 as a letter carrier in Caney, KS. Wanting to do more for the Postal Service, Coquillette sought advancement opportunities taking on his first supervisor role in Independence, KS. From there, Coquillette has served in a number of positions of increasing responsibility.
Coquillette was quick to thank mentors he has had over the years and support staff in his promotion to the postmaster position.
"I have had awesome amazing people who have helped me get where I am at,” he said.
In addition to his experience in the Postal Service, Coquillette holds a bachelor’s degree in technology management and a master’s degree in human resources management, both from Pittsburg State University.
